This is your New Hummingbird Feeder!
It is called “My Pocket Feeder®” because it can be folded in a convenient way to transport it in your pocket to
a favorite feeding location.
It can be slipped over the bill of a cap or hat.
To acclimate hummingbirds to the feeder, a hole is in the Hat clip to hang on a fence post with a wire, brad nail
or tie to anything you can reach such as a low tree branch.
Leave it there and refill it as needed while you observe it for at least 48 hours (about 2 days).
Sunglasses must be worn at first because hummingbirds will detect any slight eye movement and flee.
Do not wear mirrored sunglasses! Hummingbirds are very territorial.
They will interpret their reflection as an adversary or threat and charge at their own reflection.
To use:
1) Carefully unfold the feeder.
2) Take the tube and put 1 tsp of sugar in first. If you do not have sugar handy, 1 packet of sugar will work. Use
only dye free and artificial sweetener free sugar in feeder! Do not use honey! It will cause them to develop
lesions on their beaks and tongue.
3) Fill tube to 1/8" from top with bottled water, not chlorinated. Chlorine is poisonous to them.
4) Place the flower plug in the tube and place the tube inside the flower opening.
5) Put thumb over top opening and shake for 30 seconds to dissolve the sugar in the water. (3 to 1 ratio –
water to sugar) should be used. Make sure the sugar is completely dissolved before offering to hummingbirds.
6) Be very still and do not try to touch or catch them!
7) Now you are ready to use “My Pocket Feeder®” Enjoy!
To clean the flower, use a pipe or straw cleaning brush.
For faster results, use My Pocket Feeder® close to where Hummingbirds are already attracted.
